Your Job Title
Vibe enforcer also known as Web Designer.
When did you join Ascendancy?
Do you remember, the 21st night 7th morning of September?! I do, it was the start of a magical journey, many moons ago.
Tea or coffee?
Predominantly tea but my nans Italian coffee always wins (it could be to do with the mountain of sugar in it though)
What is your favourite meal?
Are we going out? Then a burger, it’s my go to and always feels the best bet, but not any burger, Beefy Boys burger! I introduced everyone in the office to them, I definitely think I’m due some commission by now? But if we’re talking home cooked it’s going to have to be one of my Mum’s sunday dinners or my Nans pastina!
If you could be an animal, what would you be?
I Googled ‘happiest animal’ – it returned a Quokka, never heard of one but based on the picture it couldn’t be more me.
Do you prefer dogs or cats?
Dogs. I’m not sure I need to argue why, surely any sane person would also think that. Man’s best friend for a reason.
Who would play you in a movie?
I’ve been told either Jonah Hill or Kevin James over the years. Not necessarily for their roles but the way they looked, definitely an insult in there but I’ll take it on the basis that their films are mostly comedies and I’m always up for having a good laugh and joking about.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I have 6 screws and what I can only describe as a large cotton bud looking bolt through my leg. Which leads nicely into the following question…
Any funny anecdotes you would like to share?
I managed to break the largest bone in the human body by bending over to pick up my shorts while on the toilet. I had to sit and wait for the paramedics to come and get me off, talk about degrading. Yep! It’s an interesting story that I love to bore people with.
Really, it happened post-op after having a metal screw removed from my hip after 7 years. The bone was just weak and decided it no longer wanted to participate in bone activities. Pop! Honestly, the trauma was real and not funny at all at the time, but looking back, it’s pretty hilarious. Especially when people’s faces squirm in disbelief as they hear the story.
It’s a great story for an ice-breaker and so if I’m ever struggling for conversation (which is rare) it’s my go to!
Why do you like working for Ascendancy?
Ascendancy is nothing without the team and they are a great bunch of people who I love getting to spend the majority of my days with (sounds like I’m being forced to say this, I’m not, honest…). We work well together but also always find time to have a bit of fun which I believe helps improve the environment in the office and makes the journey to work each day all that bit easier! We always have some great conversations/debates – we need a podcast! Also, it goes without saying, we’re a 4 day week business, like come onnnnn!
What is your favourite part of your job?
Simply, it’s getting to be creative and tackling the next web design project from the start. Finding what the clients are looking to achieve and then being able to take those ideas and come back to them with a new design that they (most of the time) love, makes me happy and the job feels fulfilling.
Any secret talents?
You ever had that awkward moment when you’re going to shake someone’s hand and you both offer the same hand and you end up doing some weird and strange manoeuvre to complete the shake. Well, I can bend my hand backwards to avoid this awkward moment by using the back of my hand. Don’t ask how I found this out, it creeped me out though.
What is your favourite thing about Shropshire?
It’s my shire.
Shropshire is my home and what I know. It has loads to offer and some fantastic locations to appreciate the simpler things in life. I’m really not a city guy, it’s just too fast-paced with not a care for the person next to you.
