On October 2nd, we both began our apprenticeship with Ascendancy, as Digital Marketing Assistants. We’ve been working on the same tasks and gaining all of the necessary skills together, since the very beginning. Working as a team and sharing this journey together has been a wonderful experience; we have gotten along since day one and have been able to support and accompany each other the entire way.
Our First Week…
During our first week at Ascendancy, we were able to meet the team and learn about everyone’s job responsibilities within the company. This included both the web design and the digital marketing team, which helped to provide an overview of what to expect from our future work. On our second day, we also had a photoshoot with the entire team, which was a great way to get started as a member of the group. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming, and they assisted us throughout the entire process of starting our journey as apprentices.
What We’ve Enjoyed…
The team has been really helpful in developing our skills further, we have already learnt so much and have grown both as individuals and professionals. The range of tasks we have completed have enabled this rapid growth in such a short period of time, as the in-person experience has provided vital insights into the digital marketing world and what our roles involve. Utilising Canva and exercising our creativity allowed us to design some fun Halloween themed social media posts for Ascendancy’s socials. Another task that we enjoyed was content optimisation, as it allowed us to learn about a specific client and incorporate that knowledge into our work. Additionally, writing blogs has been a task in which we have both thrived with, from the initial research to planning and then constructing blogs on a range of topics. This range of tasks, coupled with the other activities we have completed, has allowed us to develop our critical thinking, problem solving and creative writing skills.
Looking To The Future…
We have a whole host of exciting events and activities planned, which will keep us busy for the rest of this year. A fun activity fast approaching in the Ascendancy calendar is the MarioKart tournament, being held in honour of one of our colleague’s last day at the company. Excitingly, we begin the apprenticeship at SBC Training in Shrewsbury on Halloween! It will be a fun experience to meet the other students on our course and to begin to work through some different tasks. We are also ending the year fuelled with festive spirit, as we are participating in the annual Christmas meal, featuring a secret Santa exchange. This will be a lovely way to round off the beginning of our Ascendancy journey, and an opportunity to connect with our colleagues outside of the working environment.
Looking further ahead, we are both eager to complete our apprenticeships with the highest results we are capable of. Our aspiration is to complete a degree apprenticeship and further expand our knowledge, so we can start to work on bigger projects and deal with some clients directly.
