- Your Job Title
Senior Account Manager
- When did you join Ascendancy?
1st of November 2016, I remember it like it was yesterday.
- Tea or coffee?
Coffee, but you will not catch me drinking instant coffee.
- What is your favourite meal?
If I hear that fajitas are on the menu for the evening, I’m sold.
- If you could be an animal, what would you be?
100% a dog, they often get treated far better than humans – well mine does anyway…
- Do you prefer dogs or cats?
Dogs, if you have ever watched the movie ‘Cats and Dogs’, that should tell you everything you need to know about cats (they are evil).
- Who would play you in a movie?
I was once told, in the office, that I looked like a budget Charlie Hunnam. Whether it was meant to be an insult, I’m not sure but I will be taking it as a compliment. His versatility either means I look like I’m part of Sons of Anarchy motorcycle gang or part of the Green Street Elite football firm – which I am far from both.
- Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I thought I was ‘one of one’ until I met another Jay Snookes playing FIFA. I was invited to a live chat with them and we established we are pretty closely related.
The most important thing in this story was that I won the game in the end – I don’t care who you are, I take this stuff very seriously.
- Any funny anecdotes you would like to share?
In my interview for this job, I embarrassed myself by struggling to find the front door – calling the office in a panic before even scanning the perimeter of the building was probably not the best idea. After explaining my predicament, whilst standing in the very open car park, where the rest of the team could probably see how clueless I looked, I had to be escorted out of the car park to the office where the interview took place. This was certainly not the best start and definitely did not settle my 17 year old nerves. Obviously, my expert interviewing skills and impeccable knowledge of VLOOKUPs helped me get to where I am today.
- Why do you like working for Ascendancy?
We have a great team, I have always felt valued since the very beginning. The work we do has visible effects on the clients we work with and this is a very rewarding experience.
The variety of ages and backgrounds allows me to stay on top of what slang is cool and what should no longer be used. I often find myself resisting the urge to use some terms out of principle.
- What is your favourite part of your job?
Problem solving, spending time gathering knowledge from the DM team and the Web Team is great. I like getting my teeth into a task and developing a working solution as this not only helps me develop my own skills but also can help share this with the team.
Annoying Emily is 2nd place but not by much.
- Any secret talents?
My Gollum impression from Lord of the Rings is pretty good. I try not to do it too often as the novelty wears off. I once did a really good Chewbaca impression but I believe this may have been a one time thing and I cannot seem to rekindle the connection to him.
- What is your favourite thing about Shropshire?
What is not to love?
We are spoiled for golf courses, when I feel that I am losing too many balls at one course, I’ll venture to another once nearby and lose some there too. It is a vicious cycle that I cannot and will not get out of.
